About APU

In the early 2000's it became clear that ultrasound would be a major player in medicine. At the same time, internet became one of the important tools in medical teaching, changing learning strategies for good.

Ultrasound is also taking off since the early 2000's due to technological advancements making it possible to build more potent machines on a smaller and smaller basis. This allows the development of skills previously in expert hands and now moving into the non-expert arena.

APU Europe was founded in the Netherlands in the year 2007 by Dr. P. Houweling and Ir. F. Schoof. The aim was to integrate both parts: modern medical teaching and the use of ultrasound.

APU's courses are principally based on the physical presence of teacher and student. But, e-learning is offered for (distant) evaluation by experienced clinicians especially with our fellowships. In doing so every course student can lift his skills to a new level, at his own time, place and pace.

?By clinical practitioners, for clinical practitioners? is the underlying theme of APU Europe.

The board is formed by Dr. P. Houweling, Dr. J. Bucx and Dr. V. Gerling.
